Is the information covered in HypnoBirthing classes the same as what is covered in a Hospital Prenatal Class?

Everything that you learn in a Hospital Prenatal Class will be covered in the HypnoBirthing Childbirth Education Classes. However, where the Hospital classes focus on pain relief, and all of the things that can go wrong, the focus in HypnoBirthing will be on giving you the tools to achieve an empowered, instinctive birth. We will also cover ALL of the medical information that you will need, and how to navigate the different things that can come up with your Healthcare Provider; i.e. what questions to ask, how to navigate all the information they are giving you, what your options are when it comes to relief from discomfort + the advantages & disadvantages.

Do I need to be planning a home birth to take HypnoBirthing?

Absolutely not. I would say the majority of my clients are planning a hospital birth.

I fully support wherever you choose to birth; after all, it is YOUR baby and YOUR birth. What I will do is give you all of the information about different care providers and birthing space options.

How are birth companions involved in the class?

Birth Companions play an integral role in birth; they are not just simply an onlooker. Information for the Birth Companion will be sprinkled throughout the course, but there is also an entire section where we cover their role and the tools that they have to support the birthing mother. We also cover how they can get involved in bonding with the baby during pregnancy, and once they are born. There is also a section in the parent handbook which is specifically for the Birth Companion during birth.

Will we be watching graphic videos in class?

Yes. This is part of the Visualization component of the HypnoBirthing Technique. During each class, we will watch 1-2 videos of HypnoBirths.

How are the classes scheduled and how long are they?

The HypnoBirthing Course consists of 5 classes scheduled over 5 weeks (1 class per week). Each class is 2.5 hours in length. The reason the course is laid out this way is because there is a lot of information being covered, and trying to cram it into two days would be very overwhelming for expecting parents. You will read the HypnoBirthing Book at the same time as your take the course, which helps allow the information to sink in. There is also homework each week, and giving a week between each class leaves time so that this can get completed.

Why take a class and not just read the HypnoBirthing Book?

I have had clients who read the book with a previous birth, and every one of them said the same thing… “the book was great, but once I was in labour, I had a hard time remembering the breathing techniques and the other tools.”

Taking the class means actually taking the time to properly learn and practice the breathing techniques. We will practice the breathing techniques several times together throughout the course, and I will watch how you are using the breathing techniques and give you feedback + ways to practice in your day to day real life situations.

You will also receive more materials in the class than just simply ordering the book. The book does not include the Rainbow Relaxation Meditation or birthing affirmations recordings, nor does it come with the bound parent handbook that provides you with easy access to tips, tools & techniques for an easier birth.

You also get access to ME and my knowledge. I am available to my clients up until their birth, and even beyond if they have questions.
